SHUTLER, Madeleine
Madeleine Shutler commenced her appointment as a Research Assistant with the Migration and Mobilities Cluster (Wellcome Endowment Grant, PI: Prof Brenda Yeoh) with effect from 17 March 2026.
Madeleine pursued Geography at the National University of Singapore, and her master’s thesis explored how mixed-race youth in Singapore experience and negotiate race and belonging, both online (e.g., social media) and offline (e.g., physical materialities). Beyond critical mixed-race studies, Madeleine is also interested in migration and international student mobility, building on her prior research experience with the Belt and Road Initiative and Student-Mobilities (BRISM) project at ARI. Her research interests converge around questions of youth identity formation, liminality, and mobility within contemporary Asian contexts.
