This workshop is jointly organized by Yonsei University, South Korea, and Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore.

This collaboration provides an opportunity to forge links not just between individual scholars but also the two institutions by bringing together two diverse groups of young academics and established scholars to examine the disciplines of cultural studies in art, cinema and comparative literature. The workshop aims to:

  • Identify a diversity of contested cultural concepts, artifacts, practices, and institutions in terms of their historical context and significance.
  • Facilitate an interactive and international exchange of expertise that crosses boundaries, reflecting on our cultural past, present, and future.
  • Explore the methodologies for the intra- and inter-disciplinary in cultural studies.
  • Promotes collaborative research on contemporary development of cultural studies in the Asian context.

This two-day workshop is by invitation only. However, we will consider any request for participation, if you are a researcher or postgraduate student in Cultural Studies or a related field, please contact Ms Valerie Yeo at  at valerieyeo@nus.edu.sg by 5 February 2014, indicating your name, email, organisation/affiliation and contact number.
