ABSTRACT

The Dayak are the majority ethnic group in Sarawak. They provided Sarawak’s first post-independence chief minister. Like their counterparts, the Kadazandusun in Sabah, they are mostly non-Muslims and feel marginalised by the Malay-dominant political system. In this seminar, James Chin will discuss the past and present political challenges facing the Dayak community in Sarawak.
