SYNOPSIS
The documentary film, How I Became a Refugee is a new documentary film which followed the extraordinary journey of a Burmese Chin refugee family from their homeland where they escaped religious persecution from the military government through to Malaysia and their post-settlement experiences in Perth, Western Australia.
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Marilyn Metta is a feminist academic at Curtin University, Perth. She has an interdisciplinary teaching and research background in social sciences, gender studies, human rights, social work and counselling. Marilyn is also a practising psychotherapist and counsellor at the West Leederville Counselling Centre, Perth. She is the founder of Mettamorphosis Inc, a non-profit charitable organisation aimed at raising awareness and funds to support the educational needs of displaced children.
Chris Gosfield is a photographer, filmmaker and web2 developer based in Perth, Western Australia. She’s the co-founder of Mettamorphosis Inc.
