This event is co-organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in collaboration with Hiroshima University, and Nagasaki University.

This forum completes a series of three technical meetings. Nagasaki University and Hiroshima University hosted the first and second meetings in November 2014, and July 2015, respectively. These dialogues seek to illuminate and explore issues of human health in a nuclear accident, through the discussion of insights and perspectives from the field of science, technology and society (STS). In addition to STS scholars from around the globe, speakers include many of the very physicians who have been working with residents of Fukushima Prefecture since March 11, 2011, as well as experts from fields such as nuclear safety and disaster studies, and graduate students from the Phoenix Leader Education Program for Renaissance from Radiation Disaster, Hiroshima University. These interdisciplinary experts address a range of specific, interlocking issues from science and risk communication to evacuation issues, to the question of how to adapt medical education curricula to the needs of populations. As the capstone of a trilogy, this Third Technical Meeting will reflect upon lessons learned from the experiences of Fukushima and the dialogues of the previous meetings, while also setting the stage for future engagements. It will discuss practical interventions and identify next steps for exploring fruitful research and policy collaborations amongst a wider range of stakeholders in the Asian region.
