Life Histories of Older Women in Singapore

This book project is based on oral history interviews of 30-40 women from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. It will document and analyse their life course histories and experiences of migration, settlement, family, work and social/community contributions within the contexts and major events of the 20th century in Southeast Asia. In doing so, it will also look at their coping strategies in facing concrete problems and challenges as well as their perceptions and ideals on major social issues of their times.
