Migrants Workers, English Teachers and Urban Life in Seoul: Examining the Everyday Lives of Temporary Migrants in Multicultural South Korea

This project investigates the practices and experiences of the growing number of labor migrants who travel to Seoul, South Korea and the contribution these individuals and their communities make to the experience of urban space in that city. In particular, this project seeks to compare the migratory pathways and experiences of two groups of temporary labor migrants – ‘English teachers’ and ‘migrant workers – as a route to understanding the ways that migrant origin, socio-economic positionality, and social and cultural practices influence everyday lives in Seoul.
