Migration, Societal and Market Transformations–Perceptions, Debates and Policies in Asia and Europe

The project on ‘Migrant Workers, English Teachers and Urban Life in Seoul’ investigates the practices and experiences of the growing number of labor migrants travelling to Seoul, South Korea and the contribution these individuals and their communities are making to the experience of urban space in that city. In particular, this project seeks to compare the migratory pathways and experiences of two groups of temporary labor migrants–‘English teachers’ and ‘migrant workers–as a route understanding the ways that migrant origin, socio-economic positionality, and social and cultural practices influence everyday lives in Seoul.
