Bittiandra Chand Somaiah & Brenda S. A. Yeoh Highly Commended in the Andy Furlong Prize
Bittiandra Chand Somaiah & Brenda S. A. Yeoh's paper Temporal emotion work, gender and aspirations of left-behind youth in Indonesian migrant-sending villages (open access) has been Highly Commended in Taylor & Francis Journal of Youth Studies' prestigious annual Andy Furlong prize.
The paper argues 'that youth engage in temporal emotion work including using strategies of ‘sequencing’, ‘savouring’ (Lois 2010) and suppressing in order to negotiate – in distinctly gendered ways – everyday realities of left-behindness and aspiration-making.'
Sponsored by Routledge, the Prize is awarded annually to the paper that the Editors and Associate Editors recognise as making an outstanding contribution to the field of Youth Studies.
