Jean Yeung interviewed on BBC’s Asia Business News

Professor Jean Yeung (Research Leader of NUS ARI Changing Family in Asia Cluster, Professor of Sociology Department & Director of the Centre for Family and Population Research), was interviewed on BBC's Asia Business News on January 27th 2016 discussing the connection between economic growth and family planning policies in Indonesia. Prof Yeung noted that "there is no clear link between population policy and economic growth" and that the emphasis of the recent launch of the family planning campaign in Indonesia is to reduce maternal and infant mortality and improve sexual health. She added that Indonesia currently has a enviable healthy age structure with the working-age population accounting for more than 60% of its total population. As an economic developmental strategy, it is important for Indonesia to enhance the human capital of the country.
