Study on life of ex-villagers on Southern Islands

Assistant Professor Hamzah Muzaini from the Department of Southeast Asian Studies at National University of Singapore (NUS), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences led a study to uncover the lives of villagers who stayed on St John’s and Lazarus islands, and Pulau Seringat. The two-year project is supported by the National Heritage Board and will lead to an exhibition, a workshop and a self-guided tour.

The project is being led by cultural geographer Dr Hamzah Muzaini that is conceived together with Drs Sonia Lam-Knott, Creighton Connolly, Desmond Sham and Rita Padawangi while they were at Asia Research Institute, NUS.
