The View From Inside The Well
This was an article contribution by Dr Ronojoy Sen on the productivity of the Parliament in India. He noted that due to disruptions, ambivalent PMs and ordinances, Parliament is a reduced place in India today. However, there are some bright spots. Behind the scenes, the committee system, which was expanded in 1993 with the setting up of departmentally related standing committees, has functioned reasonably well and usually through consensus.
