Trade War aims to stop China’s rise

Professor Kishore Mahbubani, Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Research Institute, NUS, commented that political imperatives lay at the centre of what appeared to be a “trade” conflict between the US and China. He said that the ultimate goal of the US in its trade war with China may be to prevent its emerging rival from overtaking it as the world’s greatest economic power.
