Inter-Asia Engagements

Ms Aishah commenced her appointment as Research Associate with the Inter-Asia Engagements Cluster with effect from 17 May 2022.

She has an MA in Southeast Asian Studies from NUS. She will be part of the Archiving the Underclasses: Knowledge, Law, and Everyday Agency in Modern Southeast Asia project led by Associate Professor Maitrii Victoriano Aung-Thwin (PI). She is responsible for coordinating the project’s administrative matters, providing research assistance, and collaborating on and overseeing the project’s many outputs. Her research interests lie in gender relations, Islamic feminism, and antiracism, which have led her to centre gender, sexual, and racial minorities in Singapore in her writing, research, and community work. Beyond the academic, she is involved in a number of community-led organisations and projects that focus on local Muslim (-raised) women and underclasses.
