HO, Elaine Lynn-Ee

Professor Elaine Lynn-Ee Ho is Provost Chair Professor at the Department of Geography and Senior Research Fellow at ARI. She is concurrently Vice-Dean of Research at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, NUS.

Prof Ho has a PhD in Geography from University College London. Her research focuses on two domains: first, transnational ageing and care in the Asia-Pacific; and second, diaspora engagement and diplomacy. Both topics address her overarching interest in citizenship geographies. She is author of Citizens in Motion: Emigration, Immigration and Re-migration Across China’s Borders(Stanford University Press), which received the American Sociological Association’s (ASA) award for “Best Book in Global and Transnational Sociology by an International Scholar” in 2019. She is Editor of the journal, Social and Cultural Geography and serves on the editorial boards of geography, migration, area and citizenship studies journals. 

At ARI, Prof Ho has completed a project on Transnationalism, Ageing and Care Ethics (TRACE). She is currently carrying out new research on Ageing Immigrants and Integration Over the Life Course in Singapore.
