Dr Hing Jia Wen commenced appointment as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Religion and Globalisation Cluster in the Chinese Voluntary Associations in Transition: China’s Rise and the Remaking of Ancestral Communities in Southeast Asia grant with effect from 1 December 2023.
Dr Hing graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy (Linguistics) from NUS in 2020. She is a contact linguist and her research focuses on the Southern Min dialects spoken in Singapore and Malaysia. Before joining ARI, she was a research fellow at the NUS Department of English Language and Literature, where she collaborated on a project to construct an annotated corpus of Singapore English. At ARI, she will also be working on the Hokkien language and culture survey project.
