Assoc Prof Jamie S. Davidson is Cluster Leader of ARI’s latest cluster, Food Politics and Society. He commenced his joint appointment with ARI and the NUS Department of Political Science when he joined ARI to head the Identities Cluster on 1 July 2021. 

He has a PhD in Political Science from University of Washington and nearly twenty-five years of experience of teaching and writing on the politics of Southeast Asia, and especially that of Indonesia. His books and articles have focused on a range of issues, including ethnic violence, indigenous peoples’ activism, law and society, infrastructure, democratisation, and, most recently, rice politics. He sits on a number of editorial boards for book series and journals.
