RICE, Wayne Stanley

Dr Wayne Stanley Rice commenced his appointment as Research Fellow with the Science, Technology and Society Cluster (Climate Governance of Nature-Based Carbon Sinks in Southeast Asia Project) with effect from 1 August 2023. 

Dr Rice holds a PhD in Environmental & Physical Sciences from University of Amsterdam and University of Cape Town. He is an interdisciplinary environmental social scientist interested in the human dimensions of environmental change, and the facilitation of equitable and socially-just environmental governance. To date, this interest has developed within the context of African community-based coastal and marine conservation and development interventions. While at ARI, Dr Rice looks forward to expanding his knowledge and skills related to effective collaborative conservation and sustainable management of tropical peatlands in Southeast Asia.
