International Journal of Migration and Border Studies – Special Issue: Borders, (Dis)Order, And Exclusion: Mapping Migration Governance From the Margins (Vol. 4, No. 1/2)

Author: Mainwaring, Cetta & Wlton-Roberts, Margaret (guest eds)
Publication Date: 2018
Publisher: Inderscience Publisher

Bringing together scholars from different disciplines, this collection explores the failures of migration policies on the ground, analysing how policies and discourse can heighten migrant vulnerability and justify restrictive measures that curb access to asylum and migration. The special issue also includes contributions that move beyond state policies and practices to the everyday experiences of migrants. The contributions span many geographic regions, including Central America, Indonesia, Turkey, the Mediterranean, Mexico, the USA, and Canada. By analysing the margins, the special issue thus provides a global picture of the current challenges, failures, and consequences of migration governance in the 21st century.
