Food Politics and Society

Dr Emma Louise Willoughby commenced her appointment as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Food Politics and Society Cluster with effect from 1 September 2025.

Dr Willoughby received her PhD jointly in Health Services Organization and Policy (HSOP), and Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2025. She studies comparative politics through intersecting public health topics including food safety, food security, and emerging infectious diseases. Her current book project examines the politics of regulating petty trade and public markets with a specific focus on Vietnam. While at the ARI, she will be deepening her historical research on public markets in Southeast Asia.
